There is so much to do in our day to day life that our minds can be racing 100 miles an hour thinking of all the chores and errands to do, goals to accomplish, people to get back to, shopping to do, work to done and money to be made.
When we constantly let our minds run this way we can end up feeling overwhelmed and it can be difficult to make decisions to actually get tasks done. We can forget things or have to do tasks more than once because it was not done properly the first time.
It eventually causes burn out and you could get the feeling that you are starting to go crazy.
When I first got the idea to put sustain your life together my mind was running so fast with all the ideas, things to do, and skills to learn that after a couple of weeks it felt like I was going to explode.
Symptoms of a cluttered mind
- Lack of concentration
- Feeling confused, tired and cranky
- Difficulty sleeping
- Your home is a mess (some say a messy house is a sign of a messy mind)

Write everything down
When you have thoughts running all over the place it can be a good idea to write everything down. Look at it like a mind drop, where you drop all your thoughts about what to do and where to go onto a piece of paper or on the computer. This can help you organise and prioritse your thoughts and create a to do list and schedule.
A schedule does not have to be boring and always the same, creating a schedule to fit in all the things you need to do and enjoy to do can be fun.

Writing in a journal often can ease the thoughts running through your mind. A journal is a more personal item where you write about your feelings and journeys through life. It can give you a chance to let everything out and relax.
If you enjoy painting or drawing see if you can create a picture about all the thoughts and feelings. This can be like a art journal.
If you have a good friend, family relative, work mate or anyone you can call, it can be useful to just talk it out. Talking can be great therapy, just be aware of over talking.
Take time out
Although is useful to follow the above suggestions taking some time out for yourself can be just what you need. There are various ways to take time out, here we will share our favorite ways.
- Deep breathing
- Spending time in nature
- Guided or self meditation
- Watching a good movie
- Create a relaxing space in your home designed for this purpose
Negative self talk
On top of our to do list we can also have negative self talk, especially if we keep on failing to efficiently complete tasks. Be aware of your thoughts and make sure they are ones that spur you on not hold you back.

Live in the now
Quite often when the mind is running 100 miles an hour it can be that we are living either in the past or the future. Thinking about something that happened yesterday or something to do tomorrow.
That leaves no time for the now
To live in the present moment
Before you know it your days, weeks, years can be gone and your wondering where it all went. Be sure to live in each moment by taking them one at a time.
